Edo University, located in Iyamho, Edo State, is one of Nigeria’s leading state universities. Established in 2016, the university is committed to providing quality education, fostering research, and promoting innovation. Edo University offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs across various fields of study. If you are aspiring to gain admission into Edo University in 2025 using your NECO and JAMB results, this comprehensive guide will provide you with all the necessary steps and tips to achieve your goal.

1. Understand the Admission Requirements

Before applying to Edo University, it is essential to understand the general admission requirements. These requirements are set by the university and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). Below are the key requirements:

a. NECO (or Equivalent) Requirements

  • You must have at least five (5) credit passes in your NECO, WAEC, or GCE O’Level results.
  • The credits must include English Language and Mathematics, as these are compulsory for all courses.
  • The other three credits must be relevant to the course you intend to study. For example:
    • For Science-based courses, you need credits in subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or Agricultural Science.
    • For Arts and Social Science courses, you need credits in subjects like Literature-in-English, Government, Economics, or Geography.
  • Your NECO results must not be more than two sittings. This means you can combine two O’Level results (e.g., NECO and WAEC) to meet the five-credit requirement.

b. JAMB Requirements

  • You must register for and sit for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by JAMB.
  • Choose Edo University as your first choice of institution during JAMB registration.
  • Score at least the JAMB cut-off mark for Edo University. The general cut-off mark is 160, but some courses may require a higher score.
  • Ensure you select the correct subject combination for your chosen course. For example:
    • For Science-based courses, your JAMB subjects should include English, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.
    • For Arts and Social Science courses, your JAMB subjects should include English, Literature-in-English, Government, and Economics.

c. Post-UTME Screening

  • After meeting the JAMB and NECO requirements, you must participate in Edo University’s Post-UTME screening exercise.
  • The Post-UTME is a computer-based test (CBT) that assesses your knowledge in relevant subjects.
  • You must score above the Post-UTME cut-off mark to be considered for admission.

2. Choose the Right Course

Edo University offers a wide range of courses in various fields. It is essential to choose a course that aligns with your interests, strengths, and career goals. Below are some of the popular courses offered at Edo University:

a. Faculty of Arts, Management, and Social Sciences

  • Accounting
  • Business Administration
